Theodora Browne

DO

Dr. Theodora “Theo” Browne is a licensed general psychiatrist. Her clinical interests include working with patients experiencing mood or anxiety disorders, trauma-based conditions, ADHD, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, and substance use disorders. While in residency, she developed a particular passion for women’s mental health and the subspecialty of reproductive psychiatry, which emphasizes the clinical implications of the profound psychological and emotional changes that can occur across the reproductive lifespan—including during pregnancy, the postpartum period, infertility, loss, and menopause. She has undergone additional training in these areas and remains committed to ongoing education to ensure patients receive informed, compassionate care through the many different chapters of life.

Dr. Browne is originally from Houston, Texas and completed her undergraduate degree in psychology with a minor in biology at the University of Colorado Boulder. She then went on to obtain her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth. Dr. Browne completed her psychiatry residency training at UMMC, where she served as Chief Resident and was honored with the esteemed Nina Moffitt, MD Award, presented by the Mississippi Psychiatric Association in recognition of outstanding leadership and clinical excellence.

Throughout her training, Dr. Browne has conducted research, including a noteworthy case series on novel presentations of catatonia following COVID-19, which earned 2nd place at the LPMA/MPA Annual Spring Meeting in Biloxi, MS, in 2023. More recently, she has been conducting research examining postpartum psychosis and she looks forward to continuing these efforts in the future to better understand this complex condition. During her residency, Dr. Browne underwent psychotherapy training in both psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies. She is a professional member of the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, Mississippi Psychiatric Association, and Postpartum Support International.
